New Leadership Named for Operation Lifesaver Programs in Colorado, Texas

Mike-McCoy-Dal-Tingle

WASHINGTON, DC, April 4, 2017 — Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) President and CEO Bonnie Murphy announced two new state coordinators for the nonprofit rail safety education organization: Michael (Mike) McCoy is now Colorado Operation Lifesaver state coordinator, succeeding LeeAnn Sterling, who retired; and Dalton (Dal) Tingle is now Texas Operation Lifesaver state coordinator, succeeding his wife, Sally Tingle, who is now Texas OL’s program administrator and media coordinator.

McCoy, a resident of Severance, Colo., was a Hewlett Packard facilities engineer in space planning for much of his career. He also was a teacher of the learning disabled in Iowa, and an administrator at a home for developmentally disabled adults in Colorado. He has been a volunteer and a program developer with his church and other organizations, and recognizes the importance of recruiting and championing volunteers who donate their time to helping others.

“Mike McCoy’s experience with education, community organizations and volunteering make him a great fit to lead Colorado Operation Lifesaver in its ongoing rail safety education efforts,” said Murphy.

Tingle, of Lorena, Tex., worked for 17 years as assistant state coordinator for Texas Operation Lifesaver. Before coming to Texas, Dal and Sally led the Oklahoma Operation Lifesaver program for two years. Dal previously spent seven years with the Transportation Safety Institute in Oklahoma City, Okla. He served for more than 29 years in the US Air Force in the fields of training and personnel, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He also volunteers at the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Waco.

“Dal Tingle is a veteran Operation Lifesaver program director with years of experience as assistant state coordinator, and we are thrilled that he is stepping up to take the lead in Texas,” said Murphy. "We greatly appreciate Sally Tingle’s long service as state coordinator, and are pleased that she will continue to be involved in the Texas program."

Operation Lifesaver state coordinators lead rail safety education programs throughout the United States. These critical roles include managing volunteers and coordinating free safety presentations with various audiences; maintaining key partnerships with state government officials and railroads; working with the media; and providing insight to OLI that guides the organization’s strategic outreach efforts.
