Operation Lifesaver, Sound Transit share secrets for success in passenger rail safety

WASHINGTON, DC, August 25, 2011 – Across America, public light rail systems are joining Operation Lifesaver (OL, www.oli.org), the national, nonprofit rail safety education group,  in providing rail safety education to keep people safe around trains and rail crossings. One light rail system, Sound Transit, reveals its secrets for success - games, videos and multilingual messaging - in a profile of passenger rail safety best practices.

“We've been using OL since we began operating light rail in 2003 because public rail education helps reduce incidents,” says Carol Doering, Sound Transit community outreach specialist for safety.

Details on what Sound Transit’s Link light rail system is doing to promote safety for its passengers are available on Operation Lifesaver’s website at: http://oli.org/about-us/passenger-rail-safety/best-practices or http://bit.ly/nBCwMy.
