Operation Lifesaver, Inc. Explains the Effectiveness of National Rail Safety Observances at the ILCAD Conference

By Operation Lifesaver

WASHINGTON, DC, June 9, 2026 – Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) participated in International Level Awareness Crossing Day (ILCAD) events today, June 9, at the conference in Paris, France. OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh and Vice President Wende Corcoran participated in a panel discussion, sharing insight into how national rail safety observances can amplify public awareness.

Maleh and Corcoran will also attend Trespass Awareness Day (TRESPAD) events taking place on June 10.

Maleh provided a statement on this year’s global gathering.

“The ILCAD Conference brings together delegates from around the world who are committed to improving awareness of crossing safety. Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) shares that safety goal and is proud to again be a featured speaker at this year’s event.

“The 2026 ILCAD theme, ‘Alert today, Safe tomorrow,’ is a reflection of OLI’s rail safety education focus. OLI reminds the public that understanding railroad signs and signals, especially the Blue and White Emergency Notification System (ENS) sign, helps save lives.

“During our presentation, we will discuss how OLI’s two coordinated national campaigns, ENS Sign Awareness Day and See Tracks? Think Train® Week, bring together hundreds of organizations to amplify the rail safety message. As a result, millions in the U.S. hear or see key rail safety education information presented in a uniform, consistent way.

“Rail safety education is a shared responsibility. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, transportation professional or first responder, you can help save lives by using and sharing OLI’s materials. Explore programs in your state, request a free presentation or explore volunteering at oli.org

Together, we can raise awareness, share knowledge and stop track tragedies.”
