According to preliminary FRA statistics, 2,190 highway-rail grade crossing collisions occurred in 2023. There were 248 crossing fatalities and 761 crossing injuries in 2023 across the U.S. Approximately 84% of all 2023 highway-rail grade crossing collisions occurred in these states.
