Choose Safety First
ENS (Emergency Notification System) Sign Awareness Day is dedicated to educating the public and first responders about the lifesaving role of ENS signs. These Blue and White rectangular signs, found where roadways cross railroad tracks, provide the information needed to quickly report emergencies or safety concerns. By learning to recognize, locate and use these signs effectively, individuals and communities are empowered to respond swiftly and safely when it matters most.

If you are stuck or stalled on the tracks or see someone stuck or stalled – that is an emergency.
- Get everyone out and Get Away from your vehicle immediately
- For a safe distance, find the Blue and White Sign.
- Call the phone number and give them the crossing ID number
- Share this info with the dispatcher when calling 911
- No sign, call 911
