Operation Lifesaver, Inc.’s 2025 Annual Report Showcases Growth Through Tradition and Innovation
WASHINGTON, DC, October 19, 2026 – Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI), the national rail safety education nonprofit, is pleased to release its 2025 Annual Report with audited financials. The report showcases ongoing growth as OLI continues to meld tried-and-true rail safety education messages with new delivery methods, embracing innovation while remaining, at heart, a people organization.
The 2025 Annual Report highlights OLI’s two national observances and new public awareness campaigns. The report also showcases OLI’s national reach through robust volunteer engagement and key partnerships. Altogether, these efforts further OLI’s efforts to stop track tragedies through education, enforcement and engineering.
“In 2025, just under 2,000 Operation Lifesaver Authorized Volunteers (OLAVs) reached over 1.3 million people through in-person events,” said OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh. “These are people-to-people connections and do not include online or media reach. That number is staggering! It is a testament to the dedication of these individuals and the collective desire to empower the public to make safe choices around tracks and trains.”
“Other achievements include the first-ever Emergency Notification System (ENS) Sign Awareness Day and new public service announcements (PSAs) highlighting transit safety and traveling with RVs,” said Maleh. “We also welcomed new State Coordinators, trained new coaches and welcomed 410 new volunteers.”
Some of OLI’s 2025 accomplishments include:
- Launching the inaugural ENS Sign Awareness Day, educating millions about how to find and use the Blue and White ENS sign through in-person events and media messages.
- Receiving 16.6 million impressions on social media posts across all OLI platforms.
- Welcoming four new State Coordinators for Operation Lifesaver programs in Colorado, Minnesota, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia.
- Reaching 6,228 first responders through OLI’s peer-to-peer Railroad Investigation and Safety Course (RISC) training.
- Introducing two new transit safety PSAs for drivers sharing the road with transit trains and two new PSAs for RV drivers.
“I am extremely proud of this organization and our efforts to make a difference,” said Maleh. “But our work does not stop. We are committed to sharing the rail safety education message and encourage everyone to join us in not only raising awareness, but also in choosing safety every day.”
