Operation Lifesaver, Inc. to Ring The Opening Bell® at The New York Stock Exchange to Mark 10th Annual See Tracks? Think Train® Week
Rail Safety Leaders and Partners Join Operation Lifesaver at NYSE on Red Out for Rail Safety Day
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. Sept. 24, 2026 – Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) will ring The Opening Bell® at The New York Stock Exchange on Friday, Sept. 25 at 9:30 a.m. ET in recognition of the 10th Annual See Tracks? Think Train® Week.
OLI Board Chair Jo Strang and Executive Director Rachel Maleh will be joined by members of Operation Lifesaver, Inc.’s Board as well as federal and industry partners to commemorate the occasion. Strang will ring The Opening Bell® and deliver short remarks highlighting the impacts of the decade-long campaign to prevent track tragedies.
“For ten years, rail safety advocates across the country have come together to share a simple lifesaving message: See Tracks? Think Train!®,” said Strang. “Every presentation, social media post and community event helps remind people to stay alert near tracks and trains and to make safe choices that save lives.”
The bell-ringing ceremony will be livestreamed from 9 to 10 a.m. on the New York Stock Exchange Website.
The event also takes place on Friday's Red Out for Rail Safety Day, a key observance during See Tracks? Think Train® Week. On this day, rail safety advocates are encouraged to wear red and share images of themselves on social media to further raise awareness of rail safety education. Strang, Maleh and others will wear red at the ceremony in honor of this day.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of Operation Lifesaver, Inc. staff, state programs, volunteers and safety partners across the country,” said Maleh. “We are proud to have helped contribute to an 81% decline in train-motor vehicle collisions since 1972. Still, we know that even one incident is too many. Our work continues until every person knows how to stay safe around tracks and trains.”

Think Train® Week, formerly known as Rail Safety Week, reaches millions of people each year through safety presentations, media coverage, social media campaigns and public outreach events.
