Celebrating 15 Years of Rail Safety Week in Indiana!
September 21–27, 2026 marks Indiana’s 15th Rail Safety Week and the 10th anniversary of See Tracks? Think Train® Week nationwide.
This year, Indiana Operation Lifesaver is expanding rail safety outreach across the state through community events, law enforcement activities, educational programs, and targeted digital campaigns in high-risk areas.
Indiana continues to face significant rail safety challenges:
- 5th nationally for highway-rail crossing collisions
- Approximately 1.1 public and private crossings per track mile
- Nationwide, a person or vehicle is hit by a train about every three hours
Governor Mike Braun has proclaimed September 21–27 Indiana Rail Safety Week, recognizing the importance of rail safety education and prevention.
Our 15th anniversary campaign is made possible through the support of our partners and volunteers across Indiana, with additional support from CSX, CN, Pinsly Railroad Company, and Indiana Rail Road.
Together, we are working to Stop Track Tragedies and remind Hoosiers to always See Tracks? Think Train!.
