Ohio has around 5,100 miles of railroad tracks and over 5,600 public highway-rail crossings at grade. 70% of these crossings are active (lights or lights & gates) 30% are passive (Crossbuck & regulatory sign) Since 2020, 77% of all vehicle-train collisions in Ohio have occured at ACTIVE crossings.

Vehicle-Train Collisions
Since 2020, Ohio has recorded 273 collisions resulting in 63 injuries & 21 fatalities.
In 2023 (as of Oct.31) Ohio has 65 collisions (7th in Nation) with 17 injuries & 5 fatalities.

Since 2020, Ohio has recorded 101 incidents .
In 2023 (as of Oct.31) Ohio has 17 incidents (18th in Nation) with 9 injuries & 8 fatalities
